You may have been excited about having a new garden when you first bought your home. Most likely you went to the nearby home & gardening store and bought the most colorful or attractive plants. You could have planted them and made an effort to take care of them but the plants or flowers have either quit thriving or dried up and died. The explanation why you weren’t able to succeed is you just didn’t know what soil to use for what plant. If you want to succeed in your gardening, here are some suggestions you should follow.
To start with, you need to find out what kind of soil you have now. You will find soil varieties that tend to be always moist and others that will be dry. The soil is determined to be moist, or not, based on how fast the water can be absorbed. In case your soil dries up quickly following a rain, you may wish to get plants that do not require a lot of moisture to survive. If the soil in your garden stays wet for a long time after a rain, then you probably want plants that can handle wet soil and not mold up. This is only the beginning to find the right plants for your garden.
Another thing to look at is how much sunlight the backyard receives on a daily basis. You could have plants that will thrive in intense sunlight. You will also end up with plants that are not able to deal with too much sunlight and simply die. You notice this is valid for gardens that are primarily in shaded areas. For that reason, anytime making a choice on what plants to get, give some thought to the amount of sunlight your garden gets each day.
Also, when you add plants to your garden, be sure that they are not too close together. When plants tend to be way too close together, they might not receive the right amount of water and nutrients to survive. Unless you take note of this, your plants might end up dying. Thus, you want to make sure that you have 1 1/2 feet to 2 feet of space between each plant. If you want to have large plants in your garden, you should have more space between plants as well.
By performing these simple tips, you have no problems raising a healthy and beautiful garden. Your backyard will even require less upkeep than if you threw caution to the wind. Do not forget that your garden is to be looked at and savored instead of something that needs to taken care of perpetually. Watch Bird Feeder.
